Today we have our first ‘Band Spotlight’ post from one of our favourite bands, Great Scott! The band are unique in that they offer a trio of styles. A rocking 80’s tribute with big hair and awesome costumes, an outstanding folk and vintage style pop band and a standard wedding band playing all the hits. Ash from the band is going to tell you a little bit about what Great Scott have been up to recently.
Over to you Ash….
‘Great Scott!’ have been on a really exciting journey over the last few years. We’ve had some wonderful experiences and The Band Boutique have played such a key part in that.
We never look at what we do as a job. Not only do we get to hang out as good buddies and perform on stage together but we also get to visit so much of the UK and all the stunning venues that never cease to amaze us upon arrival. The icing on the cake is the lovely people we get to meet along the way.
Alongside The Band Boutique, we really enjoy establishing a relationship with our clients, working out exactly what they would like for their event and being a part of creating something special for them. Last year we began filming Video Testimonials at the end of each event to capture the reactions of the clients and what they thought of us and our performance.
We have been fortunate enough to play at some truly memorable events; from weddings at ancient castles such as Eastnor Castle, Belvoir Castle and Castle Howard to the gorgeous Barn conversions of Southend Barns, Suffolk Barn and The Tithe Barn. We have also loved the regular public gigs at Flordita and Boisdales (where we got to meet a real life Sugababe).
The most recent highlight for us was flying out to Italy to perform a wedding at Castello Di Casole in Tuscany. Not only did we get to visit Italy for a day but we got to eat lots of Pizza… Actually, we didn’t have any pizza, the first restaurant didn’t serve pizza until later and the second place we went to was an American Diner! If you’d like to see a little vlog of our trip, you can watch it on youtube here.
We really love doing what we’re doing. Yes there are the occasional long journeys home at 3am in the morning fuelled by multiple coffee stops on the motorways but fundamentally we are playing music and getting the chance to perform in front of some lovely, appreciative people on a regular basis. Plus we get to make a living out of it… bonus!
To be given the gigs we have had so far makes us really excited about what is to come.
Great Scott! x
